Welcome to the International Academic Association on Planning, Law, and Property Rights!

Planning matters. Law matters. Property matters. These three simple messages inspire the growing PLPR community to examine the difficult relationship between public and private interests in the use of land.

Past Events

The 19th Annual Conference in Cardiff, Wales, UK, 3-7 March 2025.

The 19th annual conference of the Planning, Law, and Property Rights International Association (PLPR) took place from March 3-7, 2025, in Cardiff, Wales, hosted by the School of Geography and Planning. As a beacon for global scholars and practitioners, the conference brought together a dynamic mix of established academics, early-career researchers, and law and planning professionals from over 40 countries. With insightful discussions and cutting-edge research, attendees dived into critical conversations surrounding planning law and property rights—issues that, much like the Welsh weather, are often unpredictable but always vital. Besides the rigorous academic exchanges, the event served as an excellent networking hub, fostering collaborations between research labs across the globe.

A big shout-out to our hosts at Cardiff: Sina Shahab, Brian Webb, Neil Harris, and Edward Shepherd.
